The Powerful Digital Presence

Unemployed graphic designers and digital artists?!

Between 2010 and 2018, for eight years, I worked on a project in collaboration with Yahoo, Metro News and Dalhousie University, and the main focus was on the financial lifestyle and living conditions of people whose main income came from art or related to the arts.

Unfortunately, I did not have access to all the information in that research and report, but I will provide you with some of the sections related to digital art that was in my field.

The interesting part was that the artists who worked in different fields often did not have a good financial situation and income, but about 20% of them had a very good financial situation and income ...

Those groups who were not very satisfied with their living conditions were the ones who ...

  1. They preferred to look only at the artistic aspect of this job and pay less attention to its commercial or business sector. And that means the artist is not marketing himself. Artist and especially digital artist cannot be shy. They must have an active and bold presence everywhere is social media or the internet. They must be easy and smooth access. Businesses and people should trust you, so don’t sit on the corner of your room and just draw Manga characters. No one is going to pay for that.
  2. They usually avoid three things in their learning path, the first is coding even at the elementary level, the second is Motion Graphics and whatever related to sound and movement on the timeline, and the third is 3D. The next high-demand job will be 3D, Generation alpha is capturing every corner of this digital world, and they are playing Roblox, Minecraft, Overwatch and this means they are growing up with three-dimensional World. It is simple, just add Z-Axe to your flat design.
  3. Never mind having a professional website or online portfolio, and therefore not seen in the world. Most of the employers I worked with them want to see how you can build the bridge between your imagination and the power of software. Make sure your creative resume is ready, You are artist, employers love to see your layout talent in your resume at first glance.

In contrast, those who raised the right time and investment on the above issues are making average 100K annually in Canada and The U.S.

Read this following article from CMSC Media and compare different generations activities in spending money, then you will find out Why we should invest more time and money on Coding, Motion Graphics and 3D.

The so-called Generation, which has more than $ 42.7 billion a year in online purchases or transactions, cannot be absorbed by text and Radio and TVs, these are Visual Communicators, and they can understand YouTube, Steam, Vimeo, Instagram, Snapchat and Tik-Tok better than parents. So, try to communicate with them properly then you will never be unemployed, and your income will be over 100K.

Thank You
